Do you need help with your CDR? We have decided to make available our experience in writing our own CDRs (and our friend's) to YOU.

If you are of engineering background and your skills assessment requires you to submit a competency demonstration report to Engineer's Australia, and you don't know how to start. Perhaps you have started your preparation and may need someone with an experience to review your work and give recommendations on how to further improve it, then this might just be an opportunity for you.

Please check this blog regularly for service and service fee updates.Learn more about this service.

Finally, the Skills Assessment result is here!

After 16 weeks, I finally received a notification about my assessment results through email.  Normally, Engineers Australia send the results through snail mail without notifying the applicant.  In my case, I seek the arrangement of having a courier pick up my document, as such, Engineers Australia notified me through
email.  There is a challenge for this however, the courier company needs the shipper, in this case Engineers Australia, to contact them directly.  But Engineers Australia refused to do such.  Therefore, I resorted to have it sent by snail mail.

Anyway, the letter says something like this:

Once you receive this letter, you can then start preparing for the final lodgement of your skilled immigrant visa application.

Stay tuned, I am in that process right now.

  2. Hi.
did you submit your PRC license?
is it required for a positive assessment from EA?
coz i haven't taken the board exam.

also, i'd like to know the university which you graduated from

  3. Hi, I'm also waiting for skill assessment result from Engineering Australia (should be exactly like yours: professional engineer level 233411) . Already 13 weeks but no reply yet. I know it will come soon but surely after 31/12/2012. I'm thinking of applying online (for 885) before receiving this result.

I guess you also apply for 885, right? I wonder if you had started lodging online an application before receiving this result from Engineering Australia, and then now you add the result to your existing application form. Or you only started applying online after having this result??

Please let me know. I desperately wanna know this. Thank you

    1. Hello Tim,

Do you send inquiry updates to engineer's Australia?
If you haven't, here's a blog post on how to do it http://towardsaustralia.blogspot.com.au/2011/05/how-to-receive-updates-for-competency.html

I only applied for one visa subclass, which is a 175. After July 2012, It is now under visa subclass 169 I believe.

After July 2012, an Expression of Interest is required to be submitted, receive an invitation to apply, before one can lodge a visa application.

  4. HI ,
I have applied for EA on 16th May 2013 and on 21st May the amount was credited from my account. But after that it has been 3 weeks and i have not received any CID or reference number from engineers Australia, is this the usual procedure or we are supposed to receive any kind of mail communication from them immediately after the amount is been deducted.

Hi Sir, im also an Electronics Engineer, and fortunate to have found your blog about your experiences in getting to Australia. This is truly a helpful site.

Sir i also need guides and some samples on how to write my CDR, particularly my career episodes.

Ill really appreciate it if you can also chat with me thru email. My email add is jepgomez76@gmail.com.

Though i have some quick questions if its alright with you:

    1. I have converted my Electronics and Communications Engineer License to Electronics Engineer License under RA 9292, but PRC it seems, as far as i know does not issue a new certificates for the new name of our profession. What certificate will i show Engineers Australia (EA) if they require it to assess my qualifications and work experiences? In your experience, did they just accept your old certificate bearing the Electronics and Communications Engineer title?

    2. Will an EA assessor if not satisfied with career episodes communicate and recommend to client to change career episodes? Will client be given chance to change, improve, remake career episodes or CDR as a whole?

    3. Is undergraduate engg task without hardware output assessable when used as career episode, even just a design study? Which is more advantageous to the applicant, the project with, or without prototype? Ill really appreciate it if you will share with me how you used your undergrad project or task, and what was that task all about. At least ill know which task to use.

    Thank you very much sir.

    1. Johnny, it does not matter really what your title is now, what matters is what skills you have you want to be assessed against with.

you can be an electrical engineer, and that is assessable via engineers australia.

your experience and how you present them through your skills assessment application will matter if it is worthy of positive assessment.

A positive skills assessment does not give you any points for residency application. It simply gives you the "PASS" to submit an EOI (expression of interest). Without a positive assessment, once cannot submit an EOI.

      Hope I answered your question.

I believe you can mail your resume to engineers australia and don't forget to include your reference/application number. It would also be polite to include a letter explaining the circumstance.

I think they will accept it and put your resume in your file before they start evaluating it. Remember, EA's standard evaluation response is 16 weeks. That means you can get that resume sent, received, and filed with your application before they can even start the evaluation.

I hope I answered your question.

However, should your wife receive a positive assessment outcome, that means her skills is found on the required skills list of australia and receives a positive assessment result from ACS, you will be granted an extra 5 points for your application.

    2. Dear John,

My situation is similar to this person. I've done three years diploma, BTech (Pass) and BTech (Honors) in Electronics Technology. But I was also working along while I was pursuing my Bachelors degree. Also my BTech (Pass) program was of one year, as my one year was exempted because I already have one year of working experience (this is as per the rules in my country). My BTech (Pass) transcript also show this information. This means that I have 4 years of Bachelor's degree in Electronics Technology (BTech) but 1 year was exempted.

From the beginning I am working in the field of Printed Circuit Boards designing and manufacturing. So I would like to know that Engineers Australia will accept me as Electronics Engineer or my field is Engineering Technologist - 233914 or Electronic Engineering Technician - ANZSCO 312412 or something else.

      Please help me out.

      Thanks,

    3. Hi,

Engineers Australia will assess first your educational qualifications and match your work experience with it. If you have a bachelors of engineering degree, and have work experience in a closely related field, then you can be assessed as professional engineer (electronics). Based on what you stated alone, I believe you can apply for assessment as Electronics Engineer.

Hope I have answered your question.

Now, how much point should i get ? 15 or 10? if i get 10, then my point will be 55.

Is there any positive output to appeal against the result?

Do you have a tracking number for your application when you sent it? If you have, then look it up, and send that information to EA with a formal letter. Mail that letter to EA, do not email this time. Usually, a snail mail will receive more attention than snail mail in my opinion.

Forgive me if this is a second of the same post, I'm not quite sure what happened to my first post.

What I wanted to know was, from your experience, how long does it take for the assessment result to arrive in the mail after it has been dispatched from Australia?.

I understand that this time would vary from region to region, but a rough approximation would be great.

    Thanks!

Hope you can still find time to answer this one..
Do you think they will send your assessment result letter even on snail-mail process right after they have the final report? They should have standard processing procedure in any case. This is somehow similar to "nealvaz" question that he may have posted twice as per his second posting.

Based on your first statement, you received a notification via email that your assessment is complete. So from that time of email to the time that you receive the actual paper, how much time did you wait?

    Thanks and God Bless!
